About the program: In the Stay-Ahead Writing program, we help students, on a recurring basis, advance their English grammar and composition skills. Working one-on-one with a teacher, students learn the foundations of English grammar, including the parts of speech, parts of a sentence, types of phrases, and common usage errors. This knowledge helps students understand the English language on a deeper level and allows them to read and write complex sentences. Students reinforce their understanding through practice exercises and then apply their skills by writing short paragraphs and essays. We support students in growing their grammar and composition skills to a college level, with regular and consistent practice

Students also are required to read newspaper and magazine articles assigned by their teachers weekly and write responses. This aspect of our writing program not only introduces students to a variety of information but also increases students' confidence level in facing unfamiliar content. Through reading these articles and writing about them, students observe and learn different styles of writing from professional writers.
